The book I read was Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. This book is 236 pages long. Another book by Christopher Paul Curtis is The Mighty Miss Malone. Something you might not know about the author is the first writer to win both Children’s Literature prizes in one year. If you like books that are historical fiction this is the book for you. I love how the author wrote this book in first person because I could really understand Bud’s struggles.

Bud is a ten year old boy that lost his Mom when he was six and only has a small “suitcase”. Bud lives in an orphanage called the home. Bud is sent to a family called the Amos’s and does not have a great time. Their kid named Todd bullies Bud and frames him. So, he is forced to go sleep in the shed and they said that the last kid that slept in the shed died in his sleep. Bud ran away and tried to live on his own. Bud realized that he couldn’t live by him self and he decided he was going to find his father. If you want to find out if he finds his Dad read to find out.
